From....Religious Tolerance...

Ya know, I have always been pretty tolerant when it comes to religious beliefs.....but this type of thing is driving me very quickly towards intolerance! Ridiculous.....and I hope to hell that the more moderate Muslims stand up  and are counted. But probably shouldn't expect them to do so....for very few of them have risen up against the Islamic terrorists....

From...Me

It is the day before Thanksgiving. I am at work today for a couple of hours, but leaving soon to drive the 2.5 hours to pick up my son. His car is on the fritz, so no way to get home unless I pick him up. He doesnt get off work until 4, but I plan on taking my time (traffic will probably be terrible) and take some photos along the way. We are getting the fall foliage colors very late this year, but in spite of the drought the colors are still pretty good. If you look at my Flickr site you will see a photo of a pretty tree I took yesterday...

I am the cook in the family, but on T'giving, I have let Wegmans do the cooking for the past few years. I do up some side dishes and usually a dessert or two. We shall have 10-11 people for dinner.

So I am off now until next Tuesday.......and have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone (and to my Canadian friends--well, have a Happy November 22!!)...drive carefully if you are driving anywhere--just remember, wherever you go, there you are..... and keep the Tums handy...

From...My Weekend Update

Well DJ had a weekend update in her latest post, so I guess I should have one too....

My sickness caused by my doc's insistence  that I get 3 vaccines at once lasted well through Saturday evening, and even now my arm is still damn sore. I think I will forgo the annual flu shot from now on and take my chances. The vaccination for pneumonia and shingles is a once-in-a-lifetime thing thank god.

So I spent most of the weekend working on my new venture. I have set up my own firm, have my email lists ready to roll, have finished the second draft of my first research study, done a mock  up of the first newsletter, and today ordered my new business cards....so here we go...

I am not too sure how successful I will be, but I am entering into it with eyes wide open. What I am doing is filling a void in my field and the people I know and trust in the field think it will be a very worthwhile and needed venture. I mentioned I have gone to a 3 day work week, taking Mon and Fri off (although I am in at work today as I have to take tomorrow off) and spending the other 2 days on the venture.

So wish me luck........

From...Visits to the Doctor

I had my physical yesterday. I have taken to having one annually. I don't mind going, although yesterdays was a bit more intense than usual...lots of probing, hooked up to machines, told I have to exercise more, eat less sugars and carbohydrates (so last night I broiled salmon, had fresh yams and asparagus, and finished it off with coconut cake- go figure...) But I also had 3 vaccines--one for flu, pneumonia, and shingles---the last one is apparently new. So last night I woke up feeling very nauseous,  and decided to not go into work today. I have gone to a 3 day work week now, T W Th, but since I was out yesterday was going to go in today...

I think this is the first time I have ever gone to the doc and come home sick....weird huh? So will take it easy today, read, drink milk, and eat healthy!!!

And much to some people's dismay, the doc said I would live another year....ahhhh, ain't life grand!
